Foods to Avoid When Trying to Get a Six Pack

If you want six pack abs, you’ll need to accept the fact that much of hardest work is going to come as a result of dieting and watching what you eat so that you lose weight. You can train your abs until you’re blue in the face, but if your body fat percentages are too high, you won’t be able to see your abs, no matter how hard you tense them. This is where the importance of diet really becomes apparent. To help you show the world your amazing abs we’re now going to list a few foods that you need to avoid if you want to get a six pack. The foods on this list won’t be particularly surprising, but we’re also going to highlight what it is about them that makes them so bad and unhealthy.

French fries

If you want to lose weight, French fries are amongst the worst foods in the world that you can eat. French fries aren’t just detrimental for your abs, they’re also detrimental to your health as well. French fries are one of the unhealthiest foods in the world. Because they’re cut so small and thinly, this increases their surface area which means that they absorb more of the fat that they’re fried in. They are then coated in blood pressure increasing salt, which makes them even worse. Combine this with the fact that some are coated in dextrose, as well as having a fairly high glycaemic index to begin with, when they absorb the grease they’re cooked in, they become one of the unhealthiest foods in the world.

Donuts

Donuts may be circular rings of heaven, or jam-filled tasty delights, but they certainly will do you no good if you want to get ripped. Donuts are basically sugary balls of buttery dough that are deep fried before being covered with sugar, and often filled full of sugary jam, cream, or other rich delights. They’re notoriously unhealthy as they are loaded full of trans fats, calories, and sugar. If you’re trying to get lean in order to show off your abs, donuts are best saved for your cheat meals, and even then you’ll want to eat them sparingly.

Pizza

Sad news ab lovers, pizza’s off the menu if you want a six pack. That’s a little dramatic as you can have it as a treat every now and then in moderation. Pizza is typically made from white flour, which is normally high in sugars and lacking in nutrients because it’s heavily processed. It’s then coated in a tomato sauce which is the healthiest part, before being coated with fat-laden cheese and often other calorific toppings and processed meats. Pizza is loaded full of saturated fats and calories, making it one of the worst foods in the world for losing weight. You can of course make healthier pizzas using wholemeal flour, healthier cheese, less cheese, and healthy veggies and healthy toppings, but the calorie content will still be high.
